The rule in one line
AI may draft, but your child must verify — every fact, every step, out loud.
The 4-step workflow
- Attempt first: your child tries the problem alone for 10 minutes.
- AI draft: ask the AI to show steps or an outline — never just the answer.
- Verify: check each claim against the textbook or a trusted source; mark what held up.
- Rewrite closed-book: close the AI and reproduce the solution in own words.
Guardrails for parents
- Use only fictional, anonymous examples in prompts — no real names, school, address, or photos.
- Respect each AI provider’s minimum-age and account terms (they differ by provider and jurisdiction): a parent should operate the account and supervise use.
- Keep AI sessions visible and time-boxed (15–20 minutes).
- Treat AI output as a starting rumor: useful, but guilty until proven innocent.
- For graded work, follow your school’s AI policy — when unsure, disclose.
